The Journey of Kiana Bolden
In the bustling city of Monticello, Arkansas, I, Kiana Bolden, came into this world, destined to leave my mark through artistry and activism. Growing up, I was drawn to the vibrant colors of the world around me and the endless possibilities they held. It was in the seventh grade that I discovered my first true passion - braiding.
At just thirteen years old, I found myself captivated by the intricate patterns and designs that could be created with a simple strand of hair. With determination and a relentless drive to excel, I immersed myself in the art of braiding, honing my skills day by day. Soon, friends and family began to take notice of my talent, and before I knew it, I was braiding hair for family and friends special occasions.
As I delved deeper into the world of creativity, I realized that my talents extended far beyond the realm of hairstyling. With a thirst for knowledge and a desire to explore new horizons, I embarked on a journey of self-discovery that would shape the course of my life.
Driven by an insatiable curiosity, after I was introduced to web design in my 8th grade east lab class. I eventually taught myself the art of graphic design, immersing myself in tutorials and online courses late into the night. With each new skill I acquired, I felt a sense of empowerment and fulfillment unlike anything I had experienced before. Graphic design became my canvas, a medium through which I could express my innermost thoughts and ideas to the world.
As I continued to grow and evolve as an artist, another passion began to take root within me - a passion for social justice and advocacy. Inspired by the legacy of those who had come before me, I knew that I had a responsibility to use my voice and talents to effect positive change in my community.
At 26, I became actively involved with the NAACP, serving as the Drew County 6042 Communication/PR Chair, at 28 I became the Drew NAACP 67AJ Event Coordinator chair at age 30 I graduated onto the state level as Arkansas State Conference Young Adult Committee Chair and as the PR/Communications Co-Chair. Through my involvement with the organization, I found a platform to amplify the voices of those who had long been silenced and marginalized.
Today, as a licensed cosmetologist, graphic designer, and passionate activist, I stand at the intersection of art and advocacy, weaving together strands of creativity and compassion to create a brighter future for generations to come. Whether I'm braiding hair, designing logos, or organizing community events, I am driven by a sense of purpose and a commitment to making a difference in the world.
With that being expressed, Abundantki came into existence. Blessed with numerous talents, I couldn't confine myself to one category. A-bun-dant-Ki, an abbreviation of Abundantly Kiana, embodies this idea. God has showered me abundantly with gifts, and I pray that I can extend these multifaceted talents to the world.
As I look back on my journey, I am filled with gratitude for the opportunities that have come my way and the lessons I have learned along the path less traveled. With each twist and turn, I have emerged stronger, wiser, and more determined than ever to leave my mark on the world. For in the tapestry of life, it is not the individual threads that define us, but the way in which we weave them together to create something beautiful and enduring.
With Love,
Kiana Bolden
